Born in France, Claudia is a 32-year-old is an award-winning photographer and director of documentaries and fashion, based in Paris. Claudia discovered the power of photography as an expressive language for her emotions. Her creative journey is intimately linked to her personal life, allowing her to offer a unique perspective on the world through the prism of characters, stories, and experiences that deeply resonate with her own, thus illustrating the richness and complexity of human emotions.
Claudia is driven by a profound quest for self-understanding and an authentic connection with human nature, which has pushed her to explore her own identity and that of others. Her artistic adventure began with a trip to Mongolia, in a quest to discover her personal vision and explore the notion of family, forming genuine bonds. This journey marked the beginning of her documentary project, "Youth of Land," a celebration of youth worldwide. Over ten years, she immersed herself in the heart of isolated tribes across the globe, capturing their essence and weaving the narrative of their lives.
From her travels in Mongolia to the Maasai tribes of Kenya, the Kogi of Colombia, and various cultures of India to Ethiopia, and most recently Uganda in March last year, each experience has deeply enriched her understanding of humanity and shaped her artistic identity.
Her project, "Women of Fire," completed in 2022, was distinguished in 2023 at the Festival In Cadaqués and at the PhotoVogue Festival in Milan. Her photographs have also been published in the "Human" book by the Prix Pictet, highlighting the unshakeable strength and resilience of the Ethiopian women of the Mursi tribe through powerful and vivid images. Her recent series, "Sentinels of Karamoja," which captures the fragility of the Karamojong and their challenges in Uganda, will be exhibited in Milan by PhotoVogue.
Claudia does not just observe the world; she is committed to transforming it by bearing witness through her images and providing necessary aid to the communities she visits. "My approach is deeply rooted in emotion, as I strive to convey a comprehensive and profound vision of the individuals I capture. Drawing from my own personal journey, I've developed a particular sensitivity to understanding human suffering, which I endeavor to express poetically and powerfully.
The fundamental aim of my work is to unveil the beauty of the world, to celebrate the pride and profound connection between humans, their cultures, and their environment. My perspective is infused with emotion because I want viewers to feel the humanity and richness of my encounters through my photographs. My work seeks to capture the essence of each moment, to transcend superficiality and delve into the very core of the human experience, and to evoke deep contemplation about life, suffering, and resilience." Claudia, 2024, interview for FOTOCULT Magazine
" As a photographer and film director, I am deeply fascinated by communities and minority groups. My artistic journey and personal history have propelled me to take bold stances in order to represent the realities of the world that touch and inspire me, and that I wish to share. Through my work, I strive to amplify and empower the subjects I capture. My primary motivation is always guided by a sincere desire to help and support those I encounter. I hope that, in the long run, my work will also serve as a source of empowerment for the individuals and communities with whom I interact. " Claudia, 2023 Paris
