The Kogi Indigenous people, also known as Koguis or Kagabas, have lived for over 500 years in the majestic Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia. Their territory stretches along the valleys of the Don Diego, Palomino, and San Miguel rivers, covering a vast region in northern Colombia’s Caribbean, ranging from sea level to an impressive altitude of 5,770 metres.
The Kogi are an ancestral people whose life and culture are deeply rooted in this unique mountain range, an ecosystem rich in diversity and home to exceptional biodiversity. Their traditional way of life is intrinsically connected to nature, and they maintain a sacred relationship with their environment, which is at the heart of their spiritual and cultural existence.
